Interior designer at Surian Residences

A table for everyone at Surian Residences, and a home around it.

Generous plans, and a household with its own rhythm. We’ll furnish the rooms around how you eat, work and wind down, adding the rugs, lamps, curtains and art that make a home feel lived in. No renovation needed to begin.

A dining room with a round marble table and a walnut lazy Susan, boucle chairs on timber frames, a ring pendant overhead and a wall of pale built-in cabinets with walnut shelving

A round table with a turning centre, so every dish reaches every plate. For a household that eats together, the dining table is the real centre of the home, so we size it for the family rather than the floor plan.

01Making it feel like home

Making Surian Residences feel like home: floor plans and styling

Styling a Surian Residences home takes its generous plans as they are and fills them with what the household needs: places to sit together, to work and to be alone.

No works are needed. The main layouts are below.

Low density is something you feel indoors as much as out. StarProperty counts about 40 homes to the acre here, and the four-bedroom plans run past 2,100 sq ft, so furniture bought for a smaller flat can look lost in these rooms.

MyRumahBaru lists five layouts:

  • About 850 sq ftOne bedroom, one bathroom
  • About 1,400 sq ft3+1 bedrooms, three bathrooms
  • About 2,131 sq ftFour bedrooms, five bathrooms, with a yard
  • About 2,207 sq ftFour bedrooms, three bathrooms, with a yard
  • About 2,218 sq ft4+1 bedrooms, three bathrooms, with a yard

MyRumahBaru marks these sizes as estimates, and StarProperty gives the whole range as 850 to 2,443 sq ft, so we measure your home on the visit.

Two seating groups, guest suites and the +1

In a living room this size, one rug rarely holds the room together. Two seating groups, each on its own rug, one for conversation and one for the television, keep the space from feeling like a hotel lobby.

The 2,131 sq ft plan has five bathrooms to four bedrooms, which makes it easy to style guest rooms as small suites: a luggage stool, a reading lamp, a hook behind the door and good towels.

The +1 room in the 3+1 and 4+1 plans is worth deciding early. On the visit we look at its size and window before suggesting a study, a room for a live-in helper or a store.

02Styling a home

Styling a rented Surian Residences home

Renting a Surian Residences home needn’t mean living with someone else’s taste.

Freestanding pieces are entirely your call; anything screwed to a wall, plumbed or wired goes to the owner in writing, then to management.

A family home let with the basics

Larger rented homes are often furnished for viewing rather than for living: a dining set, a sofa, the beds. We note what’s there, keep what is comfortable, and add what a household actually uses, like a desk where homework happens and somewhere by the door for bags and shoes.

Leaving the walls as you found them

Picture ledges on a sideboard, floor lamps instead of wall lights, freestanding shelves and curtains on tension rods let you finish a room without a single hole, which keeps the conversation about the deposit short.

Settling the children first

Moving with children? Their rooms are finished first, beds made and lamps on, so the rest of the home can come together around them over the following weeks.

If you’ll move again

We favour pieces that can change jobs, a sideboard that becomes a media console later, a rug that suits a smaller living room, and leave out anything made to measure for Surian’s walls.

Landlords between tenants

If you own a Surian home and are between tenants, styling on its own can make it ready to show. Homes that also need works are covered in the to-let note further down.

03How does styling work?

How styling works at Surian Residences, from first call to install

One stylist stays with your Surian Residences home from the first call to the last cushion.

We plan and source the list; you approve every purchase; the rooms are set once it all arrives.

Setting up takes one to two weeks. Deliveries take longer, commonly four to twelve weeks, so beds and dining chairs go on order first.

Two towers share the grounds, so we book loading times and the lift with management before the large pieces come.

  1. Hearing how you live Free
Who lives here, how the household spends its evenings and weekends, what came with the home and the date you’re moving in.
  2. The measuring visit RM200, deducted from the fee if you go ahead
We measure every room, watch where the daylight falls, and decide with you which of the pieces already there earn a place.
  3. Fee agreed, rooms planned
The fee goes in writing first. Then each room gets a layout and a buying list pitched at your budget.
  4. Orders in, tracked
You approve each order, and we keep one list of what’s coming and when, so nothing goes missing between shops.
  5. Setting the rooms
Your stylist comes back once everything is in, to place, hang, light and make each room ready to use.

A four-bedroom home can mean a hundred small purchases, from bedside lamps to bath mats. We keep them on one list and answer “where’s the rug?” whenever you ask.

04How much does styling cost?

What styling costs at Surian Residences

Styling at Surian Residences is estimated at RM4,350–6,065 for the one-bedroom, RM7,780–11,210 for the 3+1 and RM9,495–12,925 for the four-bedroom and 4+1 homes.

Each bedroom is RM1,715 and the living and dining RM2,635, agreed in writing before we begin.

The first figure covers the bedrooms and the living and dining together. The second adds rooms such as the +1 as a study or a family corner by the window: one more for the one-bedroom, two more for the larger homes over 1,200 sq ft. Every room is priced the same whatever its size, and none comes free.

4 or 4+1 2,131–2,218 sq ftFour bedrooms, living and diningRM9,495RM12,925 two more

One bedroom at RM1,715 plus the living and dining at RM2,635 make RM4,350, and RM6,065 with one more room. A 3+1: three bedrooms and the living and dining make RM7,780, and RM11,210 with two more. Four bedrooms and the living and dining make RM9,495, and RM12,925 with two more.

These are October 2026 estimates, ahead of any quotation. Furniture is paid for separately, chosen from a shortlist at the budget you set.

Included in the styling fee

A first conversation, at home or by video. A visit to measure, see what you already own and what came with the home. A layout for each chosen room, with furniture placed, art positioned and a buying list for lighting, textiles and the small things. And a setting-up visit by your stylist once everything has been delivered.

Interior styling

05Want more than styling?

Want more than styling at Surian Residences?

Often the furniture is all a Surian home needs.

Sometimes, though, the kitchen, bathrooms or wardrobes are the ones the building was finished with, and no longer suit the household.

Perhaps the bathroom tiles were never your choice. The kitchen was planned for someone else’s cooking. The wardrobes waste the space above them. That’s where interior design comes in.

We help you decide what to change and in what order, so you can do one room now and the rest later, or the whole home in one go.

Styling furnishes a home as it is. Interior design changes what it is.

06What does interior design cover?

Interior design at Surian Residences, for the long stay

Surian Residences’ homes are freehold and large, and more than a decade after completion, original kitchens, bathrooms and wardrobes may be due a rethink.

Design can be phased room by room, so the household stays put while the kitchen or a bathroom is done.

What a Surian Residences renovation usually covers

  • KeepRoom sizesLarge rooms, which no renovation needs to create
  • AdaptBathroomsWith up to five, renew the ones used every day first
  • RenewKitchenCabinets, worktops and appliances planned around how you cook
  • CheckYardWhere the washer, dryer and drying space sit beside the kitchen

Renovation rules at Surian Residences

Surian’s renovation rules aren’t published online. Before contractors price anything, we get management’s current version with the deposit, working hours and forms. We haven’t designed a home at Surian yet; on the call we’ll share our work elsewhere in the Klang Valley.

Before any works at Surian Residences

Three approvals can apply. The owner’s written consent, if you rent. Management’s approval under Surian’s rules. And, for some work, a permit from MBPJ, the council for Mutiara Damansara, which the contractor applies for.

Moving a wet area, taking down a wall or changing a window usually needs all three. Styling that fixes nothing to the walls needs none of them.

Interior design fees at Surian Residences

07How much does interior design cost?

What interior design costs at Surian Residences

The Sundays in Bed design fee at Surian Residences is estimated at RM19,745–26,875 for a 3+1 and RM23,310–30,440 for a four-bedroom or 4+1 home.

It covers design alone, is put in writing before we start, and leaves renovation and furniture to their own budgets.

Each room we design
RM3,565
Living and dining
RM5,485

This is the design fee alone; works and furniture have their own budgets.

For a 3+1 we’d usually design the three bedrooms and the kitchen at RM3,565 each and the living and dining as one at RM5,485, which is RM19,745. A four-bedroom home adds a bedroom: RM23,310. The upper figures, RM26,875 and RM30,440, add two rooms, perhaps two bathrooms or the +1 as a study.

Once you’ve chosen design, any room that only needs styling is styled at half the usual rate.

Our design fee, estimated

3 bedrooms and the kitchen: 4 rooms at RM3,565, plus the open-plan living and dining at RM5,485. The foyer and the yard are designed free.

BespokeRM383,000 to RM752,000
Space Furniture, BoConcept, Molteni&C

In each level, the lower figure is the basics and the upper figure adds touches like cove lighting or an island.

What the two levels mean

Curated is melamine or laminate joinery, quartz tops and furniture from Commune, Cellini and Poet Living.

Bespoke is finer joinery, sintered stone, a detailed ceiling and furniture from Space Furniture, BoConcept and Molteni&C.

What goes into the fee

A kitchen behind a wall counts as a room; one open to the dining area belongs to the living and dining, which takes RM3,565 off. We check yours on the visit. The yard and foyer are designed without charge, and the fee is paid in stages.

Add our fee to works and furniture at Curated (Commune, Cellini, Poet Living) and a 1,400 sq ft 3+1 comes to about RM214k–356k altogether.

How the Surian ranges are put together

Each range assumes a home of this age getting new floors and renewed wet areas. Bathrooms are left out of the lower figure, so add yours in the calculator; with up to five in a home, that choice moves the total most.

Wardrobes, kitchen units, air-conditioning in the bedrooms, a washer-dryer, a hob and a hood are allowed for, and come off if you keep your own. Vanities are left out.

Furnishing to let?

Letting your Surian home? Between tenants, styling may be all it needs. If works are due as well, our Essential level, with furniture from Ikea, SSF Home or Harvey Norman, goes in quickly and wears well through changeovers, while our design fee stays the same.

Can I furnish a rented Surian Residences home without the landlord’s permission?

StarProperty lists a swimming pool and wading pool, a gym, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, indoor badminton, a barbecue area, a children’s playground and a multipurpose hall.

What interior design services do you offer at Surian Residences?
