Your questions, answered
Thing to know before any project
Are your design fees separate from the build and furnishing costs?
Yes — and deliberately so. Because our fees doesn't change with what you spend, our recommendations are only ever about your home.
The design fee is ours; the furnishing budget and any contractor works are yours. We're a design consultation studio, not a design-and-build firm. We compile quotes from multiple suppliers and propose the best way you can utilise your budget. What interior design actually costs in KL and Selangor works one through end to end, design fee and renovation together.
How do you charge for open-plan spaces?
An open-plan space — living and dining, with or without the kitchen, flowing as one room — is priced as its own room type rather than as several separate rooms: RM2,635 per open-plan space for interior styling, and RM5,485 for interior design.
How much should I budget for furnishing a new condo or house?
This depends heavily on the type and quality of furniture selected, giving you the flexibility to decide how much of it goes to where, which will be discussed with your designer to understand your priorities.
How do I avoid unexpected costs?
A little wiggle room goes a long way. For any renovation work and purchases, we recommend setting aside a 10% contingency to cover the unexpected bits and emergencies that can pop up along the way.
What's the difference between Interior Styling, Interior design, and Virtual design?
Interior Styling is the lightest-touch option, using furniture and decor you already own and layering in new accessories and styling. Virtual design is a remote service where a designer builds your design based on your brief, which you can implement at your own pace. Interior design is the full-service tier, covering consultation, furniture procurement, installation, and project management, suited to larger-scale projects.
What does the concierge or personal shopper service include?
Once your designer hands over a curated shopping list, a dedicated personal shopper sources those items across multiple retailers on your behalf and manages the orders. It's an add-on for clients who would rather not spend time purchasing and coordinating each piece themselves.
Is hiring an interior designer worth it for a new home?
A designer earns their fee in the mistakes you don't make: layouts that work the first time round, furniture that fits through the lift and past the columns, pieces bought once instead of twice. With an interior designer, that value is easy to weigh — one known number against the cost of time and expensive mistakes.
Can I hire you just for the ideas, and do the buying myself?
Yes. Our Interior Styling and Virtual Design service both offer a more flexible approach according to what you need. Speak to us if you're not sure which is the right fit for you.
When should I get in touch?
As early as you can. We'd suggest 5–6 months before your target move-in date, or as soon as you have the keys — that gives us lots of room to plan around.
How is your pricing different from a contractor's quote?
See our Interior Designer vs Contractor guide — it breaks down what each actually does and how to avoid overpaying for either.
How does your flat fee compare to price-per-square-foot pricing?
See our Price Per Square Foot, Explained guide for how that common pricing model actually works, and why we price per room instead.
