Interior designer at Residensi Sefina

A cabin at Residensi Sefina, styled to feel like home.

Three bedrooms, a balcony and a set of keys: that is how most Sefina homes begin, sometimes with a landlord’s sofa thrown in. We turn it into your place with furniture, light, rugs and art that suit your days and pack up easily for the next move. No renovation needed. Just a home that feels like you.

A calm living room: two leather sling chairs and a small timber side table on a textured rug, a low pale cabinet run with books, a vase of branches and a large minimal artwork, sheer curtains at the window

A pair of sling chairs, a little timber table, branches in a vase. Small flats reward a few good pieces over a crowd of furniture.

01Making it feel like home

Making Residensi Sefina feel like home: floor plans and styling

A Residensi Sefina home is always three bedrooms, so styling here is about giving each room a purpose and dressing the plan you have with furniture, lamps, rugs and art.

No walls move.

UEM Sunrise built Sefina on a cruise-ship and tropical-beach idea and calls its homes cabins. It fits more than the marketing suggests. A good cabin is compact, thought through, and only feels like yours once the few things in it are right.

Each home has three bedrooms and a private balcony, in one of three sizes, eight homes to a floor in a single tower. Space is rarely the problem at Sefina; deciding what each room is for is.

  • 1,333–1,771 sq ftThree bedrooms, three built-up sizes
  • 1,548 sq ftOne of the three, with three bathrooms

The size range is UEM Sunrise’s, as EdgeProp and StarProperty reported it; the 1,548 sq ft plan comes from an EdgeProp done-deal report. Plans vary, so we measure yours.

Three bedrooms, three different jobs

The main bedroom sorts itself out. The interesting decisions are the other two: a child, a guest, a desk, a helper, or the suitcases. We ask how often each will actually be slept in before we suggest a bed; a sofa bed under a proper desk lets one room work twice.

Built-in joinery at Sefina is still young and usually worth working with, so wardrobes guide the bed position and the kitchen finish guides the dining chairs. The landlord’s loose pieces are kept or returned case by case, and your own belongings are placed first.

Then the balcony, which is the quickest win in the flat. Two outdoor chairs, a side table and a plant chosen for that orientation, and you have somewhere for the first coffee.

02Styling a home

Styling a rented Residensi Sefina home

Renting a Sefina home, you are free to replace or add anything freestanding: sofa, lamps, rugs, curtains, pictures.

Fixings, built-ins and works need the landlord’s written go-ahead, then the management’s approval.

A landlord’s furniture, still fairly new

Sefina was handed over in 2019, so whatever the landlord left is usually in decent shape, and keeping more of it is often the sensible call. We note each piece, decide keep, move or return together, and build around the keepers.

A plain neutral sofa becomes yours quickly: a rug with some texture, cushions with real weight, a lamp at reading height and art you chose.

What a lease usually lets you change

Read the alterations clause with us. Loose things are your business. Hooks, rods and shelves leave holes, so they need the landlord’s okay; hacking, wiring, plumbing or joinery need it in writing and then the management’s approval.

If the answer is no: pictures on a ledge or leaned on a console, a standing rail in the third bedroom, plug-in lamps instead of new ceiling points, curtains hung on the existing track.

Timing it to the move

Tell us your move-in date first thing. The sofa and dining table, which take longest, are ordered at once; cushions and throws come last. The main bedroom is set up before the rest so you sleep well from the start.

Furniture that fits the next flat

Pieces sized for 1,333 to 1,771 sq ft generally travel well, which is a quiet advantage of styling a Sefina home. We still lean towards a sofa in sections and a dining table that extends, so the next place doesn’t have to match.

Owners between tenancies

If you own at Sefina and let the flat, styling refreshes it for the next tenant without works: fittings left alone, worn pieces swapped, every room finished. Where works are needed too, see Furnishing to let below.

03How does styling work?

Styling at Residensi Sefina, from first call to install day

At Sefina you deal with one stylist start to finish, from the first chat to the last cushion.

We plan, you approve the purchases, and we put the rooms together once it all arrives.

Putting the rooms together takes one or two weeks. New furniture tends to need four to twelve weeks to reach you, so long-lead items go first on the list.

With 245 homes sharing one tower’s lifts, Sefina deliveries have to be booked. We get the hours and the right lift from management before the sofa or the dining table is ordered.

  1. First, a chat about how you live Free of charge
Who is moving in, what each bedroom will be for, what came with the flat, and the night you want to be sleeping there.
  2. We visit with a tape measure RM200, counted towards the fee if you proceed
Rooms and balcony measured, the landlord’s furniture listed, each piece marked keep, move or return.
  3. Written fee, then a plan per room
We confirm rooms and fee in writing, then send placement plans and a buying list led by the slowest pieces.
  4. Buying, your way
Order from the list yourself, or let our Procurement Concierge handle it. We log what has come and what hasn’t.
  5. Install day at Sefina
Once everything has been delivered, your stylist arranges each room: furniture, art, lamps, made beds.

Lift bookings, a landlord’s inventory and three bedrooms each waiting for a purpose: there is plenty to juggle. We keep it organised, and you can ask for an update whenever you like.

04How much does styling cost?

What styling costs at Residensi Sefina

Styling a Residensi Sefina home is an estimated RM7,780–11,210 in fees, built from RM1,715 for each room and RM2,635 for the open living and dining.

We put the agreed figure in writing before starting.

At RM7,780 we style all three bedrooms plus the living and dining. RM11,210 includes two more spaces, say the balcony and a study corner treated as a room. Styling has no free rooms; a room’s fee is the same whatever its size.

Three bedrooms 1,333–1,771 sq ftAll three bedrooms, living and diningRM7,780RM11,210

Three rooms at RM1,715 and the living and dining at RM2,635 give RM7,780; two more rooms at RM1,715 give RM11,210. You can style less, too: one bedroom with the living and dining comes to RM4,350.

Estimated October 2026, with the quote following the visit. Furniture is a separate purchase from a shortlist we draw up to your budget.

What the fee pays for

An initial chat, at Sefina or on a video call, using your plan and pictures. A measuring visit where your existing things are reviewed and reused first. For every room, a placement plan and buying list: furniture positions, how art is hung, and the lighting, textiles and objects to finish. Once everything is delivered, the stylist puts each room together in person.

You can hand the buying to our Procurement Concierge, who orders, follows up and receives the deliveries.

Interior styling

05Want more than styling?

Want more than styling at Residensi Sefina?

Most Sefina homes are well served by styling alone.

Now and then, though, the furniture is fine and the storage simply isn’t enough.

Wardrobes too shallow for what you own, a kitchen short of worktop: those are interior design questions.

We help you choose what to keep, what to change and what deserves doing properly, from one cupboard wall to the whole flat.

Styling makes the flat you have feel personal. Interior design alters the flat where it falls short.

06What does interior design cover?

Interior design at Residensi Sefina, when home needs a little more

Residensi Sefina is a young building, and a home handed over in 2019 seldom needs a full renovation.

Design earns its keep here in storage, the kitchen and making three bedrooms serve one household well.

If you want to change more than the furniture, we plan it together, one room at a time if that suits, starting with the change you’d feel most.

What a Residensi Sefina renovation usually covers

  • KeepFloors, bathsSeven years old and often in good order, so usually kept
  • AddStorageFull-height wardrobes and an entry cabinet do the most in a compact plan
  • AdaptKitchenNew fronts, more worktop or a tall larder, without starting over
  • RethinkThird roomA built-in desk for work, or a guest bed that folds away

Renovation rules at Residensi Sefina

We could not find Sefina’s renovation rules in public, so before quoting we ask management for the current copy with its deposit, working hours and forms. Sundays in Bed hasn’t designed a Sefina home so far; on the first call we take you through homes we’ve designed elsewhere in Kuala Lumpur.

Before any works at Residensi Sefina

Approvals run in sequence. Tenants start with the landlord’s written consent. Management approves next, against its rules. If a local council permit is needed, the contractor you pick applies for it.

Built-in wardrobes and a kitchen refit usually need management’s say; moving plumbing or a wall may need all three, so we flag it at the first meeting. Furnishing that drills nothing needs no approval.

Interior design fees at Residensi Sefina

07How much does interior design cost?

What interior design costs at Residensi Sefina

For a three-bedroom Sefina home our design fee is estimated at RM19,745–26,875.

It is for design alone, agreed in writing up front, with renovation and furniture budgeted on their own.

Each room we design
RM3,565
Living and dining
RM5,485

Our fee is for the design service. Renovation and furniture are separate budgets, shown below.

A typical Sefina design brief takes in the three bedrooms and the kitchen at RM3,565 each, and the open living and dining at RM5,485, which comes to RM19,745. Redoing two of the bathrooms raises it to RM26,875; a smaller brief, such as kitchen and wardrobes only, costs less.

With interior design, our Procurement Concierge is included, and rooms that only need furnishing are styled at half the normal styling fee.

Our design fee, estimated

3 bedrooms and the kitchen: 4 rooms at RM3,565, plus the open-plan living and dining at RM5,485. The foyer and any yard or service area are designed free.

BespokeRM383,000 to RM752,000

Within each level, the lower figure covers the essentials; the upper figure adds extras such as a feature wall, LED strips and a kitchen island.

What the two levels mean

Curated. Melamine or laminate carpentry, quartz or sintered stone tops, the existing ceiling kept or a new plaster ceiling. Furniture from Commune, Cellini, Fella Design, Dezign District, Poet Living, Big Brain, Gudang, Crown Livin and Dadswood.

Bespoke. Detailed joinery, sintered stone tops, a plaster ceiling with detailing. Furniture from Space Furniture, Tekni, BoConcept, King Living, Ambient Living, Stanzo, Forest Furniture, Roche Bobois, XTRA, Urban Edge, Molteni&C, Nostaloft, Flexform, Janine and Chesters Collection.

Reading the Sefina figures

We count the kitchen as a room assuming it is closed off. If your Sefina kitchen opens onto the dining area, take RM3,565 away; we check on the visit. Our fee is written down and paid in stages, so a costlier counter changes the contractor’s bill and leaves ours alone.

All in, the design fee plus Curated renovation and furniture (Commune, Cellini, Poet Living) comes to about RM214k–356k for a three-bedroom Sefina home.

How the Sefina ranges are made up

They price a resale flat with new floors laid. Keep the 2019 floors and bathrooms and the figure is lower. The lower end redesigns no bathroom; add any in the calculator.

Wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, bedroom air-conditioning, washer-dryer, hob and hood are included; anything you keep comes off. Vanities are excluded.

Furnishing to let?

Getting a Sefina flat ready for new tenants? If all it lacks is furniture, styling may be enough. Where works are involved, our Essential level, with Ikea, SSF Home or Harvey Norman furniture, goes in faster and takes tenant wear. Our design fee is unchanged by level.

FAQ

Styling and interior design questions at Residensi Sefina

How do you style a Residensi Sefina home that came furnished?

We keep what works. Landlords’ furniture at Residensi Sefina is often still quite new, so we list each piece, decide what stays, and add only what is missing, usually a rug, lamps, art and textiles.

Can I style a rented Residensi Sefina home without the landlord’s permission?

Yes, for freestanding pieces: furniture, rugs, lamps, curtains on the existing track, art leaned on a ledge. Anything drilled or built in at Residensi Sefina needs the landlord’s written consent, and works then need management’s approval.

How much does interior styling cost at Residensi Sefina?

An estimated RM7,780–11,210 for a Residensi Sefina home: RM1,715 a bedroom and RM2,635 for the open living and dining, with the top figure covering two extra spaces such as the balcony and a study. Fee in writing first; furniture bought separately.

What does interior styling include at Residensi Sefina?

A first chat, a visit to measure, a placement plan and buying list for each room, and a set-up day once everything is delivered. At Residensi Sefina you might style only the living room and balcony, or every room.

How long does it take to style a Residensi Sefina home?

One to two weeks to arrange once the furniture is in, with new pieces usually taking four to twelve weeks. For a Residensi Sefina move we order slow items first and book the lift with management early.

What are the floor plans at Residensi Sefina?

Every Residensi Sefina home has three bedrooms and a private balcony, in three sizes between 1,333 and 1,771 sq ft. One of the plans, at 1,548 sq ft, has three bathrooms.

When was Residensi Sefina completed, and who built it?

UEM Sunrise launched Residensi Sefina in May 2015 and handed it over in 2019. Its 245 homes sit eight to a floor in one 35-storey tower, on 3.06 acres of freehold land.

Do I need interior design or styling for my Residensi Sefina home?

Most likely styling: Sefina homes are young, so furniture, light, rugs and art usually do the job without works. Interior design makes sense if you want built-in storage, a better kitchen or the third bedroom fitted as a study, and it can follow styling room by room.

How much does interior design cost at Residensi Sefina?

Our design fee for a three-bedroom Residensi Sefina home is estimated at RM19,745–26,875, set in writing at the outset. The lower figure covers bedrooms, kitchen and living and dining; the upper adds two rooms. Renovation and furniture sit apart, roughly RM194k–336k at Curated (Commune, Cellini, Poet Living).

Does Residensi Sefina have renovation rules?

Yes, works go through Residensi Sefina’s management, but the rules aren’t published that we could find. We ask for the current copy, with deposit, hours and forms, before any quote; tenants need the landlord’s consent in writing first.

What interior design services do you offer at Residensi Sefina?

At Residensi Sefina we mostly style three-bedroom homes, rented and owned, and design built-in storage, kitchens and studies for people staying longer. We draw the plans, compare contractors’ quotes with you and manage the works on site, and contractors do the building. Interior styling and our Procurement Concierge are available without a full design, and Virtual Design looks after homes outside Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
