Interior designer at La Grande Kiara
At La Grande Kiara, the marble stays and the rooms grow warmer.
Solid timber, real marble and generous rooms: La Grande came well made. We style it around your life with furniture, rugs, lamps and art that sit easily beside the original finishes and leave with you when you go. No renovation needed, just a home that feels warm and lived in.

Timber cabinetry, a pale stone counter and an oval table under a paper lantern. Where the original joinery is good, the furniture only has to keep it company.

Making La Grande Kiara feel like home: floor plans and finishes
La Grande Kiara’s standard homes are three bedrooms plus one, about 1,960 to 2,010 sq ft, each a corner unit, with penthouses up to about 7,355 sq ft.
Styling here works with good original finishes rather than around them.
Nikmat Kuasa finished La Grande Kiara at the end of 2005, in what StarProperty calls a classic French theme. It used solid wood for the cabinets, genuine marble for the counter tops and decorative timber doors: materials that age well when they are looked after.
- About 1,961 sq ftThree bedrooms plus one (some listed as plus two), three bathrooms
- About 1,981–2,011 sq ftThree bedrooms plus one, four bathrooms
- Up to 7,355 sq ftPenthouses, five bedrooms
Layouts from MyRumahBaru and StarProperty, which differ slightly on the largest penthouse (7,335 or 7,355 sq ft). We measure your home on the visit.
Timber, marble and a French accent
Original joinery in solid timber is worth keeping. We choose furniture whose wood sits comfortably beside it, clearly lighter or darker rather than a near miss, and let the marble carry the cooler notes.
A French theme doesn’t call for period furniture. Clean-lined sofas, linen, one or two older pieces and plenty of soft light suit these rooms better than gilt and swags.
Eight homes share each floor and every one is a corner, so there are two outlooks to dress. We dress each window for its own light, with lined curtains where the afternoon sun is strongest.
Styling a rented La Grande Kiara home with care
Renting at La Grande Kiara, you can change anything that isn’t attached: furniture, rugs, lamps, cushions, curtains on existing rails.
The timber joinery, marble and doors belong to the owner, and any change to them needs written consent and management’s approval.
A home let with furniture
Large homes are often let with large furniture. We go through it with you, keep what suits the timber and marble, and ask the landlord to collect what crowds the rooms. A 2,000 sq ft home often needs less furniture than it was let with, arranged better.
Looking after the original finishes
Marble stains and solid timber marks, and the deposit depends on both. We add felt under every leg, trays and coasters where glasses land, and runners where chairs are pulled out, so the home goes back as it was found.
A family move to a deadline
Three bedrooms and a +1 make a long list. The main bedroom and the children’s rooms are finished first; the living room, the study and the +1 follow within a week or two.
Furniture for the home after this
In a home this size it is tempting to buy big. We choose with the next move in mind: sofas in sections, tables that extend, lighting that plugs in, pieces that will still fit a smaller flat later.
Owners furnishing to let
Owners refreshing a La Grande home for a new tenancy rarely need to touch the joinery. New loose furniture, lighting and soft furnishings that respect the finishes are usually enough; if works are needed, see Furnishing to let below.
How styling works at La Grande Kiara, first call to finish
One stylist leads a La Grande Kiara project from beginning to end.
We design the rooms, you approve and buy, and we arrange everything once it has all arrived.
Made-to-order furniture takes four to twelve weeks; styling the rooms takes a week or two once it is here. We sequence the orders so the large pieces arrive first and the accessories last.
La Grande runs on smart-card access, and StarProperty notes that cars can’t stop in front of the building on a busy road. We book delivery slots with management and agree where vans can wait before any order is placed.
- Getting to know you FreeWho is moving in, what the flat came with, the pieces you are bringing and the date you want to be settled.
- At La Grande on Jalan Duta Kiara RM200, credited if you go aheadRooms measured, the timber and marble noted, existing furniture marked to keep, move or return.
- A fee and a plan, in writingWe agree the rooms and the fee, then send a layout and buying list for each room, longest lead times first.
- Ordering, your wayYou order from the lists when it suits you; we check deliveries against the plan and chase anything late.
- The installYour stylist sets out the furniture, hangs the art, layers the beds and adjusts every lamp before you walk in.
Three bedrooms, a +1 and a moving date: a family move at La Grande has many parts, and we keep them in order while you get on with arriving.
What styling costs at La Grande Kiara
Styling a La Grande Kiara three-bedroom plus one is estimated at RM7,780–11,210: RM1,715 for each bedroom and RM2,635 for the living and dining, with two more rooms in the higher figure.
Five-bedroom penthouses are about RM11,210–14,640. The fee is put in writing first.
The bedrooms and the living and dining give the lower figure. At nearly 2,000 sq ft, La Grande homes take the higher figure’s two extra rooms easily, most often the +1 as a study or dressing room and the balcony as somewhere to sit. Each room is the same price whatever its size.
| Home | Lower figure covers | Lower figure | With more rooms |
|---|---|---|---|
| Three bedrooms plus one 1,961–2,011 sq ft | Three bedrooms, living and dining | RM7,780 | RM11,210 |
| Penthouse, five bedrooms up to 7,355 sq ft | Five bedrooms, living and dining | RM11,210 | RM14,640 |
The sums: three bedrooms are RM5,145 and the living and dining RM2,635, together RM7,780; with two more rooms, RM11,210. Five bedrooms are RM8,575, so RM11,210 with the living and dining, or RM14,640 with two more.
October 2026 estimates. A penthouse often has more rooms to style, so we confirm it after the visit. Furniture is a separate budget of your choosing.
What styling includes
We begin with a conversation about the household and the home, then visit to measure and look at what you have. For each room we style you receive a plan with furniture positions and a list of lighting, textiles, art and objects. When everything is delivered, your stylist spends the install day arranging it.
Want more than styling at La Grande Kiara?
Most La Grande Kiara homes have good bones and need only furnishing.
Some have finishes that are tired in places, or a layout that no longer suits the household.
Marble can be honed and timber refinished, but a bathroom with its first fittings, or a kitchen planned for a different family, is a design question.
We help you work out what to restore, what to replace and what to leave alone, so the good original materials stay where they still earn their keep.
Styling furnishes the home you have. Interior design reworks the home itself, where it needs it.
Interior design at La Grande Kiara, for the long run
La Grande Kiara’s homes were handed over with solid timber and real marble, so a good renovation keeps more than it replaces.
It typically renews bathroom and kitchen fittings, refinishes joinery and plans the +1 room properly.
Restoration can come first and replacement later, room by room.
What a La Grande Kiara renovation usually covers
- KeepTimber, marbleOriginal solid timber and marble, refinished rather than ripped out
- AdaptThe +1 roomShelving or a dressing room fitted around the existing doors
- RenewBathroomsFittings and finishes, keeping the plan where it works
Renovation rules at La Grande Kiara
All works need management’s approval. No rules are published, so we request the current copy, with its deposit, hours and forms, before any contractor prices the job; because the building runs on smart-card access, we also ask how contractors are let in.
We have not designed a La Grande home yet; on the first call we show you homes we have designed elsewhere in Kuala Lumpur.
Before any works at La Grande Kiara
Tenants first need the owner’s consent in writing, especially for anything touching the original timber or marble. Management then approves the works, and larger or structural jobs may need a council permit, which the contractor applies for.
We tell you on the visit which of these apply. Styling, which changes nothing that is attached, needs none of them.
What interior design costs at La Grande Kiara
Our design fee for a La Grande Kiara three-bedroom plus one is an estimated RM19,745–26,875, and RM26,875–34,005 for a five-bedroom penthouse.
It covers the design and is agreed in writing; the renovation and furniture budgets are separate.
- Each room we design
- RM3,565
- Living and dining
- RM5,485
We charge for the design. Renovation and furniture are separate budgets, which you can see below.
Each bedroom, and the kitchen, is RM3,565; the living and dining, RM5,485. A 3+1 with its kitchen is RM19,745; a five-bedroom penthouse, RM26,875. The upper figures take in two more rooms, such as the +1 study and a bathroom: RM26,875 and RM34,005.
Choosing interior design also halves the styling rate for any room that only needs styling.
3 bedrooms and the kitchen: 4 rooms at RM3,565, plus the open-plan living and dining at RM5,485. The foyer and any yard or service area are designed free.
Within each level, the lower figure covers the essentials; the upper figure adds extras such as a feature wall, LED strips and a kitchen island.
What the two levels mean
Curated. Melamine or laminate carpentry, quartz or sintered stone tops, the existing ceiling kept or a new plaster ceiling. Furniture from Commune, Cellini, Fella Design, Dezign District, Poet Living, Big Brain, Gudang, Crown Livin and Dadswood.
Bespoke. Detailed joinery, sintered stone tops, a plaster ceiling with detailing. Furniture from Space Furniture, Tekni, BoConcept, King Living, Ambient Living, Stanzo, Forest Furniture, Roche Bobois, XTRA, Urban Edge, Molteni&C, Nostaloft, Flexform, Janine and Chesters Collection.
How the fee works
The kitchen is priced as a separate room. Where an earlier owner has opened it to the dining room, it moves into the living and dining and the fee falls by RM3,565; the visit tells us which. Fees are paid in stages, and a costlier marble raises the contractor’s quote, never our fee.
On a 1,961 sq ft 3+1, our fee plus works and furniture at Curated (Commune, Cellini, Poet Living) is roughly RM214k–356k.
| Home | Our fee | Curated | Bespoke |
|---|---|---|---|
| Three bedrooms plus one 1,961–2,011 sq ft | RM19,745–26,875 | RM194k–336k | RM383k–752k |
| Penthouse, five bedrooms up to 7,355 sq ft | RM26,875–34,005 | RM252k–522k | RM486k–1,132k |
At Curated we furnish from Commune, Cellini and Poet Living; at Bespoke, from Space Furniture, BoConcept and Molteni&C. Our fee is on top of both.
These are October 2026 estimates.
How we reached these numbers
The 3+1 and the penthouse are priced as older homes with new floors laid. Bathrooms sit outside the lower figure, and the calculator above adds them. Keeping La Grande’s original timber joinery brings the figures down.
The ranges allow for wardrobes, kitchen units, bedroom air-conditioners, a washer-dryer, hob and hood, minus whatever you keep. Vanities are additional.
Furnishing to let?
Preparing a La Grande home for tenants? Furnishing may be all it needs, and styling covers that. If works are needed too, Essential, with furniture from Ikea, SSF Home or Harvey Norman, is quick to install and copes with a change of household; our fee is the same whichever level you choose.

Can tenants alter the joinery at La Grande Kiara?
Not without the owner’s written consent and management’s approval. The solid timber cabinets, marble tops and timber doors at La Grande Kiara stay as they are; furniture, rugs, lamps and curtains on existing rails are yours to change.

How long does styling a La Grande Kiara home take?
One to two weeks on site after delivery, and delivery often takes four to twelve weeks. At La Grande Kiara we book delivery slots with management early, because stopping in front of the building is restricted.

What interior design services do you offer at La Grande Kiara?
At La Grande Kiara we style large corner homes room by room, and design bathrooms, kitchens and +1 rooms while keeping the original timber and marble where it still serves. We draw the plans, compare contractors’ quotes with you and manage the works on site, and contractors do the building. Styling is also offered on its own, and Virtual Design looks after homes outside Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
