Interior designer at Icon Residence
Among the terraces of Icon Residence, a home made yours.
Empty, furnished for letting, or full of someone else’s taste: whichever way your Icon Residence suite came, we’ll style it around your life with furniture, lighting, rugs and art that can travel with you. No renovation needed. Just a home that feels like you.

A linen bed, a timber chest and a small table by the window. The bedroom is the room we finish first, so there is somewhere calm to sleep while the rest arrives.

Making Icon Residence feel like home: layouts and styling
Styling an Icon Residence suite starts with the rooms as they are, then adds the furniture, lighting, rugs and art that make them yours, with no works.
With more than 200 layouts, few homes here are quite alike, so we start from your plan.
Icon Residence, sold as Icon Residence @ Mont Kiara, stands on Persiaran Dutamas, beside Mont Kiara. Mah Sing built it as three blocks of serviced suites on 2.57 acres, linked by two sky bridges, with a terrace on the roof. StarProperty counts two to four homes on each floor, each laid out like a corner unit.
- 673–1,115 sq ftOne bedroom, or one plus one
- 1,108–1,320 sq ftTwo-bedroom suites
- 1,729–1,880 sq ftTwo bedrooms plus one
- 2,275–2,745 sq ftThree bedrooms plus one
- From about 4,300 sq ftPenthouses, four bedrooms plus one
Layouts from Property Genie’s list; StarProperty gives a slightly different overall range. Your own plan may differ, so we measure.
Terraces, angled windows and what to keep
StarProperty describes stepped blocks with garden terraces and angled windows, drawn so that inside and outside run together. For styling, that changes the brief: the terrace is a room, the windows set the furniture plan more than the walls do, and low pieces near the glass keep the planting in view.
What is built in stays, and we work with it. A suite furnished for letting is listed piece by piece as keep, move or return before anything new is bought.
Odd angles suit loose furniture better than built-ins. A round table, a rug laid square to the room rather than to one wall, and a chair turned towards the window can settle a room that a long, straight sofa would fight.
Styling a rented Icon Residence suite
Renting a suite at Icon Residence still leaves the loose layer to you: furniture, rugs, lamps, curtains, pictures and terrace planters.
Drilling, hacking and built-in work wait for the owner’s signature, and then the management’s.
If the suite came furnished
Serviced suites are often let fully furnished, with pieces bought to suit many tenants rather than one. We note each item, keep what fits the angles, and bring in what makes the suite personal: art, a rug cut to the room’s shape, lamps, linen, and planting outside.
What the lease lets you change
Check the clause on alterations. Hooks and brackets mean holes, so ask the owner; wiring, plumbing, hacking and joinery need written consent plus management approval.
Without them, an angled room still has options: art leaned along a low shelf, a rail on wheels for clothes, standing lamps in the corners a ceiling light misses, and curtains on the existing track.
Arriving from abroad
We can start on video with the floor plan before you land. Slow-to-arrive pieces are ordered first and the bedroom is ready first, so the first night is a good one.
Furniture for the next home
With over 200 layouts here, your next home won’t share this one’s angles. So we favour pieces that fit almost anywhere: a sofa of modest depth, a round table, rugs and lamps, and nothing built to an angle you won’t meet again.
Refreshing a let suite
Owners letting an Icon suite can refresh it without works: joinery kept, tired furniture replaced, the terrace dressed again. Suites that need works too are covered in Furnishing to let, further down.
Styling at Icon Residence, from first call to install day
One stylist sees an Icon Residence suite through from the first call to the moment the terrace chairs go out.
We lay out each room, you pick what to buy, and we set it all up when it arrives.
Install takes a week or two. Before that, made-to-order furniture can take four to twelve weeks, so anything slow is ordered at the outset.
Three blocks and two sky bridges mean it matters which lift a delivery uses. We confirm the delivery hours and the right lift with management before a sofa is booked.
- The first conversation ComplimentaryWho is living in the suite, what is shipping in, what the owner has provided, and the date you arrive.
- Measuring the suite RM200, offset against the fee if you proceedEach wall and window measured, the terrace and any +1 room noted, and existing furniture sorted to keep or return.
- Fee confirmed, rooms plannedA written fee for the rooms you choose, followed by a layout and a buying list per room, slow items first.
- SourcingBuy from the lists yourself, or hand orders, receipts and lift bookings to our Procurement Concierge.
- The installYour stylist comes in person to place the furniture, hang the pictures, dress the bed and set out the terrace.
An irregular plan, an owner’s inventory and an arrival date make a busy few weeks. We keep the schedule, and you can ask us for an update at any time.
What styling costs at Icon Residence
Styling an Icon Residence two-bedroom or 2+1 suite is an estimated RM6,065–9,495, and a 3+1 RM7,780–11,210.
We charge RM1,715 per bedroom and RM2,635 for the joint living and dining, and confirm the sum in writing beforehand.
The starting figure is bedrooms plus living and dining. The top figure allows for what Icon suites usually add: two rooms in suites over 1,200 sq ft, commonly the +1 and the terrace, and one in suites of 1,200 sq ft or less. Room size doesn’t alter a room’s price, and no room is included free.
| Home | Lower figure covers | Lower figure | With more rooms |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two bedrooms 1,108–1,320 sq ft | Two bedrooms, living and dining | RM6,065 | RM7,780–9,495 |
| 2+1 1,729–1,880 sq ft | Two bedrooms, living and dining | RM6,065 | RM9,495 |
| 3+1 2,275–2,745 sq ft | Three bedrooms, living and dining | RM7,780 | RM11,210 |
The arithmetic: two bedrooms (RM3,430) with the living and dining (RM2,635) give RM6,065; add one room for RM7,780 or two for RM9,495. Three bedrooms (RM5,145) with the living and dining give RM7,780, or RM11,210 with two more. One-bedroom suites and penthouses are priced after the visit.
October 2026 estimates, not a formal quote. Furniture is bought separately, from a shortlist matched to your budget.
What styling includes
For an Icon suite: a call, in the suite or by video, over your plan and photos; a measuring visit, where we look at what you own and use it first; a layout for every room, angles included, with a list of lighting, textiles, art and objects; then an install day when everything is in.
Our Procurement Concierge can do the buying for you, from placing orders to booking the lift.
Want more than styling at Icon Residence?
Many Icon Residence suites need only the right furniture.
In others the sofa can stay, but the kitchen has had more than a decade of use.
The wardrobes waste the angles. The bathroom feels like a hotel’s rather than yours. Those are jobs for design, not styling.
We help you weigh each one, so the money goes where the suite will feel it, whether that is one wall of joinery or the whole plan.
Styling arranges the suite you have. Interior design reshapes parts of it, only where it pays off.
Interior design at Icon Residence, for an unusual floor plan
Icon Residence’s angled rooms and terraces are what set its suites apart, and also what make ready-made furniture and joinery hard to fit.
After more than a decade, that is often where interior design starts.
Phasing works well here: joinery in one room, then the kitchen, then the baths, as time and budget allow.
What an Icon Residence renovation usually covers
- KeepTerracesGarden terraces planned as rooms, rather than enclosed
- AdaptWardrobesJoinery redrawn to fit the angles rather than fight them
- RenewKitchen, bathsThe rooms most suites will want redone after a decade

Renovation rules at Icon Residence
As a serviced residence, Icon Residence routes all works through its management. Its renovation rules aren’t publicly available, so we request the current version, with deposit, hours and application forms, before any contractor is invited to price.
We have no Icon suite of our own to show yet, so the first call covers homes we have designed elsewhere in Kuala Lumpur.
Before any works at Icon Residence
Renting? The owner’s written consent comes first. Management’s written approval follows, and some jobs need a council permit, which the contractor applies for.
Moving plumbing, removing a wall or altering a terrace usually needs all three, so we raise those at once. Styling, which leaves the walls untouched, needs none.
What interior design costs at Icon Residence
Interior design at Icon Residence carries an estimated Sundays in Bed fee of RM16,180–23,310 for a two-bedroom or 2+1 suite and RM19,745–26,875 for a 3+1.
That is the design service only, written into an agreement before we start; works and furniture are separate budgets.
- Each room we design
- RM3,565
- Living and dining
- RM5,485
Our fee is for the design service. Renovation and furniture are separate budgets, shown below.
Bedrooms and the kitchen are RM3,565 a room and the open living and dining RM5,485. Two bedrooms with the kitchen total RM16,180; three, RM19,745. Two extra rooms, such as a bathroom and the +1 as a study, bring those to RM23,310 and RM26,875.
Our Procurement Concierge is part of every design project, and rooms that only need styling are done at half the styling rate.
2 bedrooms and the kitchen: 3 rooms at RM3,565, plus the open-plan living and dining at RM5,485. The foyer and any yard or service area are designed free.
Within each level, the lower figure covers the essentials; the upper figure adds extras such as a feature wall, LED strips and a kitchen island.
What the two levels mean
Curated. Melamine or laminate carpentry, quartz or sintered stone tops, the existing ceiling kept or a new plaster ceiling. Furniture from Commune, Cellini, Fella Design, Dezign District, Poet Living, Big Brain, Gudang, Crown Livin and Dadswood.
Bespoke. Detailed joinery, sintered stone tops, a plaster ceiling with detailing. Furniture from Space Furniture, Tekni, BoConcept, King Living, Ambient Living, Stanzo, Forest Furniture, Roche Bobois, XTRA, Urban Edge, Molteni&C, Nostaloft, Flexform, Janine and Chesters Collection.
How the fee works
We have priced the kitchen as a closed room. Many serviced suites have open kitchens; if yours does, subtract RM3,565, and we confirm which on the visit. The fee is staged, and a costlier finish raises the contractor’s price, not ours.
Fee plus works and furniture at Curated (Commune, Cellini, Poet Living): roughly RM185k–310k for a 1,260 sq ft two-bedroom suite.
| Home | Our fee | Curated | Bespoke |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two bedrooms 1,108–1,320 sq ft | RM16,180–23,310 | RM169k–293k | RM337k–664k |
| 2+1 1,729–1,880 sq ft | RM16,180–23,310 | RM169k–293k | RM337k–664k |
| 3+1 2,275–2,745 sq ft | RM19,745–26,875 | RM196k–359k | RM386k–802k |
Curated: Commune, Cellini and Poet Living furniture. Bespoke: Space Furniture, BoConcept and Molteni&C. Our fee is not in either column.
Estimates at October 2026.
The basis for these figures
Suites are priced as older homes with new flooring. Bathrooms sit outside the lower figure; the calculator adds any you’d redo.
The ranges cover wardrobes, kitchen units, bedroom air-conditioners, a washer-dryer, hob and hood; anything you keep (see chapter 01) is taken off. Vanities aren’t counted.
Furnishing to let?
Readying an Icon suite for a new tenant? Furnishing alone may do, and that is styling. When works are needed too, Essential, with furniture from Ikea, SSF Home or Harvey Norman, is quick to fit and takes the wear of turnover; our fee is the same at every level.

FAQ
Styling and interior design questions at Icon Residence
How do you style a furnished Icon Residence suite?
We keep what suits the angles and add what makes it yours. In a furnished Icon Residence suite every item is noted, then art, a rug shaped to the room, lamps, linen and terrace planting come in before any larger piece.
Can I style a rented Icon Residence suite without the landlord’s permission?
Yes for the loose layer: furniture, rugs, lamps, curtains on the existing track and pictures on a shelf. At Icon Residence, anything screwed in, hacked or built in needs the owner’s consent in writing and then management’s.
How much does interior styling cost at Icon Residence?
Roughly RM6,065–9,495 for an Icon Residence two-bedroom or 2+1 suite and RM7,780–11,210 for a 3+1. Bedrooms cost RM1,715 each and the living and dining RM2,635; the top figure includes rooms like the +1 and the terrace. Furniture is extra.
What does interior styling include at Icon Residence?
A call, a measuring visit, a plan and shopping list for each room, and an install day in person. At Icon Residence that can take in the terrace, and our Procurement Concierge can handle the purchasing.
How long does it take to style an Icon Residence suite?
The install is one to two weeks; deliveries of new pieces usually take four to twelve weeks before that. For an Icon Residence move we order the slowest items first and book the right block’s lift early.
How do you furnish the terraces at Icon Residence?
As an outdoor room. Many Icon Residence suites have garden terraces, so we choose weatherproof seating, a low table, planters and a lamp, and turn the living room towards them. Enclosing a terrace is a works question for management.
What are the floor plans at Icon Residence?
Icon Residence has more than 200 layouts: one-bedroom suites from about 673 sq ft, two-bedrooms of 1,108 to 1,320 sq ft, 2+1s of 1,729 to 1,880 sq ft, 3+1s of 2,275 to 2,745 sq ft, and penthouses from about 4,300 sq ft, by Property Genie’s list.
Is Icon Residence in Mont Kiara or Dutamas?
Both names are used. Icon Residence’s address is Persiaran Dutamas, and Mah Sing sold it as Icon Residence @ Mont Kiara. It is a freehold serviced residence of three blocks, completed in about 2014.
Do I need interior design or styling for my Icon Residence suite?
Styling if the suite works and needs your character in it. Interior design if you want joinery cut to Icon Residence’s angles, a new kitchen or a different bathroom. Styling now, design later is a common order.
How much does interior design cost at Icon Residence?
The Icon Residence design fee is estimated at RM16,180–23,310 for a two-bedroom or 2+1 and RM19,745–26,875 for a 3+1, agreed in writing. Works and furniture are extra: about RM169k–293k at Curated (Commune, Cellini, Poet Living) for a 1,260 sq ft two-bedroom.
Does Icon Residence have renovation rules?
Yes, kept by its management and not published. We request the current rules, deposit, hours and forms included, before any quote. Tenants need the owner’s written consent before that.
What interior design services do you offer at Icon Residence?
At Icon Residence we style serviced suites and their terraces room by room, and design joinery, kitchens and bathrooms around the building’s angled plans. We draw the plans, compare contractors’ quotes with you and manage the works on site, and contractors do the building. Styling and our Procurement Concierge work without a full design too, and Virtual Design serves homes outside Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
