The Residence TTDI floor plans, and rooms with good proportions

The Residence is a freehold condominium of about 120 homes in one block in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, completed by Naza TTDI in 2006.

Most homes are around 1,800 sq ft, and our interior design starts with how your household uses them.

Sundays in Bed is a Bukit Damansara studio. For a home at The Residence, we agree the rooms and the fee in writing first, and design after.

Naza TTDI, formerly TTDI Development, built The Residence together with The Plaza next door and its shop lots. The Edge reported that The Residence, launched in 2004, holds 120 apartments and was completed in April 2006. StarProperty adds that every home was sold within two weeks of the launch.

  • The ResidenceCompleted 2006About 120 homes, one block

StarProperty gives the built-up area as 1,817 to 1,879 sq ft, and a home sold in 2023 was described as three bedrooms and four bathrooms in 1,883 sq ft. We haven’t found the developer’s floor plans published, so we start from yours.

The Residence TTDI floor plans: the sizes on record

  • 1,817–1,879 sq ftThe built-up range StarProperty gives for the block
  • 1,819–1,884 sq ftFive recent sales StarProperty lists, all within that narrow band
  • 1,883 sq ftThe one home with a published layout: three bedrooms, four bathrooms

Because the recorded sizes sit within about 65 sq ft of each other, most homes here are probably variations on one plan, mirrored or turned, rather than a mix of very different layouts. No other layout has been published, so we confirm yours with a tape measure before we draw.

Space and light

StarProperty’s review calls the rooms well proportioned, but notes that the smaller room has very little natural light, and describes a balcony that is long and narrow. Both shape the design: the darker room needs its lighting planned as carefully as a kitchen’s, and a narrow balcony works with slim furniture and planting along one side, leaving a clear path along the other.

Taman Lembah Kiara is a few minutes’ walk away, the same review notes, so green space is close even when the balcony is small.

02The design

Interior design ideas for The Residence TTDI, starting with the light

In a home at The Residence, the room with the least daylight and the long, narrow balcony are where a design earns its keep.

We start there, then work through a 2006 kitchen and its bathrooms.

The room with little daylight

Give it the job that needs daylight least: a study used in the evenings, a media room or a dressing room. Then light it in layers, with a warm ceiling light, a lamp at eye level and light inside the wardrobe, so it never feels like the leftover room.

The long, narrow balcony

Keep one side for planting in long troughs and the other for a slim bench or a pair of chairs. Anything that blocks its length makes it feel smaller than it is.

If you have four bathrooms

Four bathrooms for three bedrooms is generous. Few households need all four redesigned at once, so we’d usually do the two used every day properly and refresh the others.

A kitchen from 2006

We open the cabinets and look at the carcasses and the worktop before deciding anything. If they’re sound and the layout works, new fronts and lighting may be enough; if the cooking has outgrown the room, we redraw it around the plumbing it already has.

03The design fee

What interior design costs at The Residence TTDI

At The Residence TTDI, the Sundays in Bed design fee is an estimated RM19,745–26,875 for a three-bedroom home.

It is a fee per room, agreed in writing before we begin.

Each room we design
RM3,565
Living and dining
RM5,485

Your design fee at The Residence is worked out room by room: the living and dining, the kitchen and three bedrooms make the lower figure. With four bathrooms in a three-bedroom home, the bathrooms are where it moves most; each one you want redesigned adds RM3,565.

The works and the furniture are priced apart from the design, in the table that follows.

Our design fee, estimated

3 bedrooms and the kitchen: 4 rooms at RM3,565, plus the open-plan living and dining at RM5,485. The foyer and utility yard are designed free.

Renovation and furniture for the rooms you’ve chosen, before our fee
CuratedRM194,000 to RM336,000
Commune, Cellini, Poet Living
BespokeRM383,000 to RM752,000
Space Furniture, BoConcept, Molteni&C

Within each level, the lower figure covers the essentials; the upper figure adds extras such as a feature wall, LED strips and a kitchen island.

What the two levels mean

Curated. Melamine or laminate carpentry, quartz or sintered stone tops, the existing ceiling kept or a new plaster ceiling. Furniture from Commune, Cellini, Fella Design, Dezign District, Poet Living, Big Brain, Gudang, Crown Livin and Dadswood.

Bespoke. Detailed joinery, sintered stone tops, a plaster ceiling with detailing. Furniture from Space Furniture, Tekni, BoConcept, King Living, Ambient Living, Stanzo, Forest Furniture, Roche Bobois, XTRA, Urban Edge, Molteni&C, Nostaloft, Flexform, Janine and Chesters Collection.

How the fee works

The fee is agreed in writing and paid in stages. Better tiles for the main bathroom show up in the contractor’s quote, and our fee stays as agreed. How our fees work

With Curated furniture (Commune, Cellini, Poet Living) and our fee, a home of about 1,850 sq ft at The Residence comes to roughly RM214k–363k.

Estimated design fee, then renovation and furniture
HomeOur feeCuratedBespoke
3 bedrooms about 1,817–1,883 sq ftRM19,745–26,875RM194k–336kRM383k–752k

The lower figure covers the living and dining, the kitchen and three bedrooms. The higher adds two rooms, say two of the four bathrooms.

Both finish levels are October 2026 estimates, not a quotation.

How these figures are worked out

We’ve treated the home as a 2006 flat renewed throughout: new floors, all wet areas redone, new kitchen cabinets and wardrobes for three bedrooms. The ranges allow for split air-conditioning, cooking appliances and a washer-dryer, but not vanities.

04Working together

Your Residence TTDI interior designer, from first call to last delivery

Your home at The Residence has one designer from the first call to the last delivery.

We plan the rooms and manage the site, contractors do the building, and you pick who builds after going through their quotes with us.

StarProperty describes the main entrance as quiet and wide, which helps on delivery days. We still agree the delivery slots, lift protection and working hours with management before the works begin, because The Residence shares its setting with The Plaza and its shops next door.

EdgeProp’s project listing names a swimming pool, a gym and a squash court for residents. Contractors’ materials stay out of those shared spaces, and the noisy days follow the hours management sets.

  1. A call about how you use the rooms Free
Who lives here, which room nobody quite uses, and whether the balcony earns its length.
  2. A visit that follows the light RM200, waived if you go ahead with us
We measure each room and note where the daylight falls and where it doesn’t, then check the kitchen, all four bathrooms and the balcony.
  3. Rooms agreed, then designed
The rooms and our fee are agreed in writing first. The plans follow: a job for the darker room, the balcony, the bathrooms you’ll redo, the lighting and the joinery.
  4. A set for quotes and for management
The same detailed drawings go to each contractor for pricing and to the management of The Residence for written consent. You pick who builds after we’ve compared the quotes with you.
  5. Built, checked and styled
We follow the works, compare each room with its drawing when it is finished, and style the home before you return to it.

A home that is twenty years old will raise a few questions once work begins. We answer them as they come, and you can ask us what comes next at any time. The full process

Consent first

Before any work at The Residence, the management gives its consent in writing. We didn’t find its renovation rules online, so the first thing we ask the office for is the current set, with the deposit and permitted hours.

Walls, plumbing and the façade can need a permit as well. The contractor you appoint applies, and we tell you at our first meeting whether yours will.

05Your home

Renovating at The Residence TTDI for the household you have now

A home bought at The Residence in 2006 may now hold a different household from the one that moved in.

We design for the one living there today.

If the children have left, the darker room can at last become the study. If parents are coming to live with you, four bathrooms leave room to make one fully step-free, with a seat in the shower and a rail that doubles as a towel bar.

FAQ

Making a home at The Residence your own

What does it cost to renovate and furnish a home at The Residence TTDI?

For about 1,850 sq ft, a full renewal with Curated furniture from Commune, Cellini or Poet Living is in the region of RM194k–336k; at Bespoke, with Space Furniture, BoConcept or Molteni&C, RM383k–752k. Our design fee, an estimated RM19,745–26,875, is extra.

What are the floor plans at The Residence TTDI?

No floor plans have been published. StarProperty gives the built-up area at The Residence as 1,817 to 1,879 sq ft, and the five recent sales it lists range from 1,819 to 1,884 sq ft, so the homes are close in size. The one layout on record, from a 2023 sale, is three bedrooms and four bathrooms in 1,883 sq ft.

When was The Residence TTDI completed, and who developed it?

The Residence was completed in 2006 by Naza TTDI, formerly TTDI Development. The Edge reported it was launched in 2004 and completed in April 2006. It is freehold.

How many homes are there at The Residence TTDI?

About 120. The Edge reported that The Residence comprises 120 apartments, in a single block, and StarProperty reports that they were all sold within two weeks of the launch.

Is The Residence the same as The Plaza in TTDI?

No. Naza TTDI built them together, but The Plaza is a separate development of serviced apartments and shop offices, completed in December 2006. The Residence is the condominium.

How do I make the darker bedroom at The Residence work?

Give it a job that needs daylight least, such as an evening study, a media room or a dressing room, and light it in layers. StarProperty notes that the smaller room has very little natural light, so we plan it as carefully as the kitchen.

What is the balcony like at The Residence TTDI?

StarProperty’s review describes the balcony as long and narrow. It suits planting in troughs along one side and a slim bench or two chairs along the other, leaving the length clear so it still feels generous.

Do I need approval to renovate at The Residence TTDI?

Yes. The management’s written consent comes before any work, and wall, plumbing or façade changes can need a permit, applied for by your contractor. We ask the office for its rules first.

Can I see a home you’ve designed at The Residence TTDI?

Not yet: Sundays in Bed has no home at The Residence of its own to show, and this page doesn’t suggest otherwise.

What interior design services do you offer at The Residence TTDI?

At The Residence TTDI, our condo interior design is usually the renewal of a 2006 home of around 1,800 sq ft, from the darker room and the long balcony to the kitchen and four bathrooms. We draw the plans, compare contractors’ quotes with you and manage the works on site, and contractors do the building. Interior styling and our Procurement Concierge are available without a full design, and Virtual Design looks after homes outside Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
