Sri Wangsaria has five blocks on Jalan Ara: high-rise two- and three-bedrooms of about 1,360 to 1,460 sq ft and a 2,437 sq ft penthouse, and low-rise studios, one-bedrooms and three-bedrooms of up to 1,900 sq ft.
Interior design here usually means renewing a home that has had decades of use.
Sri Wangsaria was completed in 1984. StarProperty puts its appeal down to how well the building is kept, and notes the reception desk in its lobby, staffed around the clock, as something few condominiums have. Contessa and Tuscany are among its neighbours along Jalan Ara. We haven’t designed a Sri Wangsaria home before; the fee is per room and set out in writing before any drawing starts.

Rooms from the 1980s, and what they give you
Homes of this generation tend to have rooms that are wider than today’s and a kitchen behind its own door. Both are worth something. A wide living room can hold a proper dining table and a reading corner; a closed kitchen keeps the smell of a Sunday curry out of the sofa.
What they rarely have is enough sockets, enough lighting or wardrobes that suit how people dress now. That is usually where a Sri Wangsaria redesign begins.
Inheriting someone else’s renovation
After four decades, few homes here are as they were handed over. One may have a kitchen redone in the 2000s and its original bathrooms; the next the reverse. On the first visit we note what has been changed, when it was likely done, and what is still original behind the new surfaces.

The low-rise three-bedrooms
At up to 1,900 sq ft, the largest low-rise homes are close in size to a link house. We plan them like one: a proper entrance with storage, a family room separate from the formal living room if the plan allows, and a guest room that can become a study.
Wardrobes and storage
Built-in wardrobes taken to the ceiling, a full-height store by the front door and a linen cupboard in the corridor replace most of the loose cabinets an older home collects over time.

How a Sri Wangsaria fee is settled
The figure is agreed with you on paper and billed in stages. A costlier stone or a longer run of wardrobes shows in the contractor’s quote, never in ours. For a high-rise three-bedroom of about 1,455 sq ft, our fee plus renovation and furniture at Curated (Commune, Cellini, Poet Living) totals roughly RM214k–356k.

Before any works at Sri Wangsaria
In a building completed in 1984, we have the wiring and pipes checked before planning a kitchen or bathroom. If you rent, the owner’s written consent comes first; management’s written approval comes next, and some jobs also need a city permit, which the contractor applies for.
Sri Wangsaria’s renovation rules aren’t published that we could find, so we ask management for them, with the deposit and working hours, before contractors quote.
