Interior designer at Marc Residence

A Marc Residence suite that finally feels like yours.

Marc was sold as furnished serviced suites, so most homes here still wear the original package or a landlord’s version of it. We edit it into something personal: the right chair, softer light, your books and pictures, a rug underfoot, all easy to pack when the posting ends. No works, no permits. Just a suite that feels like yours.

01Making it feel like home

Making Marc Residence feel like home: suites and styling

For a Marc Residence suite, styling usually means editing rather than filling: keeping the fitted pieces, replacing what jars, and adding lighting, textiles and art so the place reads as yours.

The layouts are listed below.

Most Marc suites come ready to live in, which is both the convenience and the catch. Everything is there, and none of it was chosen by you, so the first weeks can feel like an extended hotel stay. Our job is to decide which of the inherited pieces earn their place and which are there only because the suite was sold with them.

Beverly Tower Development completed the twin 35-storey blocks on Jalan Pinang in 2007. Suites range from studios to four bedrooms, so one Marc home is a weekday base for a single professional and another is a family’s address for a three-year posting.

  • 493 sq ftType S studio
  • 627–1,074 sq ftTypes A, B and C: one and two bedrooms, some with a study
  • 1,297–1,529 sq ftType D: three bedrooms, some with a utility room
  • 1,626 sq ftType E: four bedrooms and a utility room
  • 2,908–3,302 sq ftType F: four bedrooms, study, utility room and a private lift

Layouts as StarProperty lists them; EdgeProp also records a few larger homes. We measure before planning.

The original fit-out, and editing it

StarProperty describes the suites as sold furnished, down to a fitted living room, an equipped kitchen, a television and a sound system. Close to twenty years later some of that has been replaced, and some hasn’t.

We split the contents three ways. Joinery stays and shapes the plan: wardrobe positions decide the bed, kitchen finishes decide the dining chairs. Loose pieces from the fit-out are kept, moved or handed back to the landlord. What you brought gets pride of place.

Small suites need furniture that does two jobs, like a dining table that doubles as a desk. In the bigger types, settle the study or utility room first; it is the space most often wasted.

02Styling a home

Styling a rented Marc Residence home

Marc tenants can replace or rearrange anything that isn’t attached to the building: seating, tables, rugs, lamps, curtains, pictures.

Drilling, fitted joinery or hacking needs the landlord’s consent in writing and then management approval.

A suite that arrived complete

Because Marc suites are usually let fully furnished, the work is mostly subtraction and substitution. We go through the inventory with you, piece by piece, and agree what stays, what moves rooms and what the landlord takes back, where the agreement allows.

New cushions, a rug and two lamps, with the pictures rehung lower, often change a furnished suite more than replacing the sofa would.

Tenancy fine print

Swapping loose furniture is normally your call. Anything leaving holes, such as hooks, curtain rods or shelves, normally needs the owner’s agreement; joinery, electrical and plumbing changes need it in writing, plus management approval.

If permission is refused: lean art on a console, use a freestanding rail for clothes, light with lamps instead of new ceiling points, and keep the existing curtain tracks.

Living in it while we work

A furnished suite means you can sleep there from night one. We work around you, bedroom first and living room second, with the slow-to-arrive pieces ordered in the first week.

Taking it with you

When the posting ends, the furniture that came with the suite stays and yours leaves. So we steer your budget towards what moves well and changes a room most: rugs, lighting, art, bedlinen, perhaps a small table. Made-to-measure items stay rare.

Landlords between tenants

If you own a Marc suite and let it, a styling refresh needs no works: keep what has worn well, replace what hasn’t, and finish each room so it photographs well for the next listing. Suites that need renovating are covered in the Furnishing to let note.

03How does styling work?

Styling at Marc Residence, from first call to install day

At Marc Residence the same stylist sees your suite from first conversation to final cushion.

We plan, you approve the purchases, and we arrange everything once it’s delivered.

The styling itself is one to two weeks’ work. Where furniture has to be ordered, allow four to twelve weeks for delivery, which is why anything slow is chosen first.

Jalan Pinang is a busy city street and the building has a basement car park, so deliveries are booked with management: which lift, which hours, where a lorry can wait. We schedule the large pieces for a morning when all three are settled.

  1. An introductory call Free
Who’s living in the suite, what’s being shipped, what the landlord has supplied, and your target date.
  2. A visit with the inventory RM200, deducted if you go ahead with us
Rooms measured, the study or utility room looked at, and the landlord’s furniture sorted into keep, move or hand back.
  3. Fee in writing, then the room plans
We confirm which rooms and the styling fee on paper, then send a plan and a buying list per room, slow items at the top.
  4. Purchasing
You order from the list, or our Procurement Concierge does it for you; we log every delivery as it lands.
  5. The styling visit
With everything in, your stylist arranges the rooms, hangs the art, positions lamps and makes the beds.

An inventory to reconcile, a shipment to meet and a landlord to keep informed: we hold the thread, and you can check progress whenever you like.

04How much does styling cost?

What styling costs at Marc Residence

We estimate RM7,780–11,210 to style a three-bedroom Marc suite and RM9,495–12,925 for the biggest four-bedroom type.

Each room is RM1,715 and the open-plan living and dining RM2,635, all agreed on paper before we begin.

The lower number takes in the bedrooms plus living and dining; the upper adds two more spaces, perhaps the study and the utility room turned into a dressing room. Nothing is styled for free, and the fee doesn’t change with a room’s size.

Marc Residence styling fee, estimated
HomeLower figure coversLower figureWith more rooms
Three bedrooms 1,297–1,529 sq ftThree bedrooms, living and diningRM7,780RM11,210
Four bedrooms, Type F 2,908–3,302 sq ftFour bedrooms, living and diningRM9,495RM12,925

Calculated as 3 × RM1,715 + RM2,635 = RM7,780, and RM11,210 with two more rooms; for four bedrooms 4 × RM1,715 + RM2,635 = RM9,495, or RM12,925.

Suites under 1,200 sq ft add one room at most: a one-bedroom with its living and dining is RM4,350, RM6,065 with the study; a two-bedroom RM6,065, RM7,780 with the study.

October 2026 estimates rather than a quotation. You buy the furniture and accessories on top, from a list matched to your budget.

What you get for it

A first conversation with your photos and floor plan, in person or on video. A visit to measure and to see what the suite already has, which we use before proposing anything new. For each room, a placement plan and a buying list: furniture, picture hanging, lights, fabrics, finishing pieces. Then a day on site to style it all once delivered.

If ordering isn’t for you, the Procurement Concierge places orders, deals with paperwork and books delivery slots.

Interior styling

05Want more than styling?

Want more than styling at Marc Residence?

Often a Marc Residence suite just needs editing.

Sometimes the problem is the 2007 kitchen, not the sofa.

A kitchen fitted for reheating, wardrobes sized for a short stay, a bathroom of its era: no amount of furniture changes those. Interior design does.

We work through what to keep, what to replace and where the money does most, whether that is one bathroom or the whole suite.

Styling edits the suite you have. Interior design changes the suite.

06What does interior design cover?

Interior design at Marc Residence, when home needs a little more

Marc’s suites were finished in 2007 as serviced apartments, with kitchens, bathrooms and wardrobes specified for furnished letting.

Nearly two decades on, plenty are ready for rethinking, particularly if you mean to stay.

If editing the furniture won’t get you there, we’ll map out what comes next.

A kitchen you can actually cook in, wardrobes that hold a family’s clothes, a bathroom that feels current: any one of these can be its own project. We can phase the work room by room, in whatever order suits you.

What a Marc Residence renovation usually covers

  • KeepPlan, liftThe layouts are sound, and Type F’s private lift is something no renovation could add
  • AdaptWardrobesWhere the carcasses are sound, new doors, lighting and fittings may be enough
  • RenewKitchen, bathsSpecified for serviced living in 2007; the first rooms a long stay redoes
  • CheckCeilings, kitchenCeiling heights and kitchen layouts aren’t published, so we measure and read your plan

Your purchase or tenancy papers record what the suite came with; we check them against the rooms.

Renovation rules at Marc Residence

The building’s management approves any works. Marc Residence’s rules aren’t published as far as we could see, so we request the current copy, including deposit, working hours and forms, before quoting. With more than 600 suites, neighbours are close, and good warning of noisy days matters.

We have no Marc Residence project of our own yet; on the first call we take you through homes we have designed elsewhere in Kuala Lumpur.

Before any works at Marc Residence

Permission runs in sequence: written consent from the owner if you’re a tenant, then written approval from management under its rules, then any permit from the authorities, which the appointed contractor applies for.

Rerouting plumbing, taking out a wall or structural work is likeliest to need every one, so we flag it at the first meeting. Styling that leaves the walls untouched needs none.

Marc Residence design fees

07How much does interior design cost?

What interior design costs at Marc Residence

Our design fee for a three-bedroom Marc suite is an estimated RM19,745–26,875; a four-bedroom is RM23,310–30,440.

It pays for design only, is agreed in writing at the outset, and doesn’t include renovation or furniture.

Each room we design
RM3,565
Living and dining
RM5,485

This figure is our design fee only. The renovation and furniture budget is separate and shown below.

A typical Marc brief prices each bedroom and the kitchen at RM3,565 and the open-plan living and dining at RM5,485. Three bedrooms: 4 × RM3,565 + RM5,485 = RM19,745. Four bedrooms: 5 × RM3,565 + RM5,485 = RM23,310. With a bathroom and the study added, RM26,875 and RM30,440.

The Procurement Concierge comes with any design commission, and a room needing only styling is styled for half the usual fee.

Our design fee, estimated

3 bedrooms and the kitchen, 4 rooms at RM3,565, plus RM5,485 for the open-plan living and dining. Foyers, yards and service areas carry no fee.

BespokeRM383,000 to RM752,000

The low end of each level covers the basics; the high end allows for a feature wall, LED strips or a kitchen island.

What the two levels mean

Curated. Melamine or laminate carpentry, quartz or sintered stone tops, the existing ceiling kept or a new plaster ceiling. Furniture from Commune, Cellini, Fella Design, Dezign District, Poet Living, Big Brain, Gudang, Crown Livin and Dadswood.

Bespoke. Detailed joinery, sintered stone tops, a plaster ceiling with detailing. Furniture from Space Furniture, Tekni, BoConcept, King Living, Ambient Living, Stanzo, Forest Furniture, Roche Bobois, XTRA, Urban Edge, Molteni&C, Nostaloft, Flexform, Janine and Chesters Collection.

How the fee works

We’ve treated the kitchen as a separate room. Many serviced suites have open kitchens; if yours is one, it comes out and the fee drops by RM3,565. We check on the visit. Fees are paid in stages, and upgrading a material raises the contractor’s quote, not ours.

For a 1,297 sq ft three-bedroom, our fee plus renovation and furniture at Curated (Commune, Cellini, Poet Living) is around RM214k–356k.

How the renovation ranges are built

Priced as an older home with new floors. No bathroom is redone in the lower figure; add any in the calculator. Studios and one- and two-bedroom suites are priced on the visit.

Wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, bedroom air-conditioners, a washer-dryer, hob and hood are included; if the suite’s originals are staying, they come off. Vanities are not included.

Furnishing to let?

Refreshing a Marc suite between tenants? If it’s only furniture, styling is the answer. If works are needed too, our Essential level, using Ikea, SSF Home or Harvey Norman, goes in quickly and stands up to changeovers. The design fee is the same whichever level you pick.

FAQ

Styling and interior design questions at Marc Residence

How do you style a Marc Residence suite that came furnished?

By editing it. Fitted wardrobes and the kitchen stay, every freestanding piece from the original fit-out is marked keep, move or return, and we add only what’s missing. A rug, lamps and art usually do more for a furnished Marc suite than a new sofa.

Can I style a rented Marc Residence suite without the landlord’s permission?

Freestanding items, yes: sofas, rugs, lamps, curtains on existing tracks and art on a console. Anything screwed in, built in or hacked needs the owner’s written consent and management approval. We check the tenancy clause together before planning.

How much does interior styling cost at Marc Residence?

About RM7,780–11,210 for a three-bedroom suite and RM9,495–12,925 for the largest four-bedroom type. Each bedroom is RM1,715 and the living and dining RM2,635; the higher figure adds rooms such as the study. A one-bedroom starts at RM4,350. Furniture is extra, and the fee is agreed on paper first.

What does interior styling include at Marc Residence?

A first conversation, a visit with the inventory, a plan and buying list for each room you choose, and a styling day once deliveries arrive. It can be a single bedroom or the whole suite, with purchases made by you or our Procurement Concierge.

How long does it take to style a Marc Residence suite?

One to two weeks on site after delivery, plus four to twelve weeks for any new furniture. Since most Marc suites are furnished, you can live there throughout, and we can begin over video before you arrive.

Can the furniture from a Marc Residence suite come with me when I move?

What you buy loose goes with you; the landlord’s furniture stays. That’s why we put most of your budget into rugs, lighting, art and bedlinen, which travel well and change a room most.

What are the layouts at Marc Residence?

StarProperty lists a 493 sq ft studio; one- and two-bedroom suites of 627 to 1,074 sq ft; three-bedroom suites of 1,297 to 1,529 sq ft; a 1,626 sq ft four-bedroom; and Type F four-bedroom suites of 2,908 to 3,302 sq ft with a study, utility room and private lift.

Do I need interior design or styling for my Marc Residence suite?

Styling if the suite works and needs to feel personal. Interior design if the kitchen, a bathroom or the wardrobes need replacing. Start with styling and add design later, room by room, if you stay on.

How much does interior design cost at Marc Residence?

Around RM19,745–26,875 for three bedrooms and RM23,310–30,440 for four, agreed in writing. It covers bedrooms, kitchen and living and dining, with two more rooms in the upper figure. Renovation and furniture are on top: about RM194k–336k at Curated (Commune, Cellini, Poet Living) for a 1,297 sq ft three-bedroom.

Does Marc Residence have renovation rules?

Yes, works go through Marc Residence’s management, though the rules aren’t published. We get the current copy, with deposit, hours and forms, before quoting. Tenants need the owner’s written consent first.

What interior design services do you offer at Marc Residence?

Styling of rented and owned suites, one room or all of them, and design of kitchens, bathrooms and joinery for people staying longer. We draw, compare contractor quotes with you and manage the site while contractors build. Styling and the Procurement Concierge can be booked alone; Virtual Design handles homes outside Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
