In this guide
Search for interior styling costs in Malaysia and you'll mostly find interior design pricing instead β full renovations, contractor costs, percentage fees. Styling is a smaller, different decision, and it deserves its own honest answer.
The short version
Interior styling in Malaysia is usually priced per item or per hour, which makes the final number impossible to predict before you start. We charge one flat fee per room instead.
- Styling works with what you already own β layout, lighting, art, textiles.
- The fee is agreed before sourcing begins, so it cannot creep piece by piece.
- If a room needs building work rather than styling, we will tell you that instead.
Why styling pricing gets confusing
Because styling is about individual pieces β cushions, art, lighting, a rug, a rearranged layout β a lot of stylists price it that way too: per item, or per hour of sourcing. That's not unreasonable, but it makes the final number hard to predict before you start. A room that seemed like a quick refresh can add up piece by piece into something closer to what a full redesign would have cost, without ever feeling like one big decision.
What we charge instead
One flat fee per room: RM1,715 for a standard room, RM2,635 for an open-plan living-dining space β agreed before we source a single item, and it doesn't change based on how many pieces the room ends up needing. If your living room needs six new pieces and your bedroom needs two, both are still priced by the room, not by the count.
What's actually included in that fee
Interior Styling is built around working with what you already have β new decorative and accessory pieces added around your existing furniture, not a full teardown. If you take the fuller Interior Design service for some rooms, you also get 50% off styling for any additional room that only needs a refresh rather than a full redesign, which is often the more honest fit for a room that's structurally fine and just needs finishing.

Comfortable, not staged
The goal of styling, done properly, isn't to make a room look impressive for a single photo β it's to make it feel more like yours to actually spend time in. A styled room that only works with the cushions arranged exactly as delivered isn't styling, it's a still life. We design styling to survive a Tuesday, not just a photoshoot.

How this compares to full design pricing
If you're weighing styling against the complete Interior Design service, see our guide to how design pricing works β the same flat-fee logic applies, just at a different scope.

Where to see this in practice
If you want to see what that fee buys rather than only what it costs, here is where our own work sits:
- Our Portfolio β βcomfortable, not stagedβ is easier to judge by looking than by description
- Pricing β how styling sits against full design, both as a flat fee per room
- Our Services β the four ways we work, if a room needs design rather than styling
