The two most common questions we get from someone about to furnish a new condo or landed home are almost never about style. They are: "which service do I actually need," and "what's the difference, really." Here is the honest, unglamorous answer.
The one-line difference
Interior styling works with what you already own, or plan to buy yourself, and focuses on making a room feel finished. Interior design starts from the layout up β space planning, materials, furniture, purchasing and installation β and includes project management from first meeting to move-in.
Interior styling, in plain terms
If your rooms already have the furniture you want to keep, but something still feels unfinished β art, lighting, textiles, the way things are arranged β styling is usually the right scope. A styling consultation walks through your space, works with what you already own, and delivers a curated shopping list and a room-by-room placement guide for the pieces that are missing. It is priced at RM1,715 per standard room, or RM2,635 for an open-plan living-dining space, and does not require you to change anything structural.

Interior design, in plain terms
If a room β or the whole home β is starting close to empty, or the layout itself needs rethinking, interior design is the complete service: space planning, a full design direction covering materials and colour, a complete shopping list, and purchasing, delivery and installation managed for you. Concierge service β the personal shopping and logistics work β is included at no extra charge. It is priced at RM3,565 per standard room, or RM5,485 for open-plan, and comes with one dedicated designer carrying the project from your first meeting to the day you move in.
A simple way to decide, room by room
- Keeping your existing furniture and mostly happy with the layout: styling.
- Starting close to empty, or unhappy with how the space is laid out: design.
- Want someone else to handle ordering, delivery and returns, without a full redesign: styling plus a standalone concierge service.
- Furnishing an entire new home at once: design, room by room, is usually the more efficient path β and if some rooms only need styling, those rooms are discounted 50% as part of the same project.
You do not have to choose one for the whole home
Most homes are not all-or-nothing. A living room that needs a full rethink can sit alongside a bedroom that just needs the finishing touches. Services are priced per room and can be mixed within the same project, so the scope follows the room rather than the other way around.
